“Sandy my sweety, I miss you a lot, I hope you are ok and God's willing we will meet soon and will play, study and joke together. We will play again with clay in the association. Please take care of yourself and listen to you Mom and Dad and play with your sister...I love you as big as the universe.’

-Miss Yasmin

COVID-19 affects different people in many different ways. Washing your hands, staying 6 feet away, and wearing a face mask is the new norm now. It is a practice everyone has to participate in to make sure we stay safe and away from contacting COVID-19.

Up until the first week of March the mentors in the “I Am A Valuable Egyptian” program were able to work with kids before the lockdown of COVID - 19 started. After the lockdown, Haddouta Mesreya decided to support the children’s families financially with the program funds, as many of the families were financially affected by the lockdown. Over 30 families in Cairo, Qalubiya, Minya & Assuit provinces were supported. In addition, the mentors assisted many of the children to submit their e-finals for school.

The “I Am A Valuable Egyptian” mentors followed up with the kids they mentored by phone. Afterwards, the mentors decided to write letters to the kids they are responsible for, to let them know they are acknowledged and loved. The letters were sent with a small gift that consisted of a colouring box set & sketch draw pad. The children and their families were very happy with the gifts and letters they received.
